Our curriculum
At Red Cliffs Secondary College, we pride ourselves on fostering a robust academic environment that empowers every student to reach their full potential and achieve personal excellence within a secure and supportive learning setting.
Our College offers a challenging and rigorous academic program, aimed at achieving optimal results for all students. We firmly believe that fostering respectful relationships between our staff and students forms the foundation for effective teaching and learning within our school. Our Learning Model is built upon the latest educational research, promoting a collaborative approach where both teachers and students share responsibility for achieving positive learning outcomes.
Incorporating Resilience Project we teach our students the benefits of Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness and what it means to be a respectful, compassionate, successful, citizen.
Our curriculum is thoughtfully designed to equip students for active and engaged participation as competent employees and responsible citizens of the 21st century. The Years 7-10 curriculum aligns with the Victorian Curriculum standards and is characterised by its richness in content, emphasis on essential skills, inclusivity, and forward-thinking approach.
To cater to diverse learning styles, our approach blends direct instruction, experiential learning, and inquiry-based methods, keeping the student at the center of the educational experience. This approach not only addresses individual needs and interests but also fosters collaborative and independent research as well as problem-solving skills.
For students in Year 11 and 12, we offer a wide range of subjects based on distinct pathways, facilitated by a rigorous Course Counselling program. This ensures that subject selections are personalised and meaningful for each senior student, guiding them towards a successful and fulfilling future.
In 2024 we will be moving to a new daily structure consisting of 5 x 60minute sessions from Year 7 through to Year 12. A typical day will look like this
